Neuro Rehab VR: Year in Review 2020

Written by: Arik Yates PTA

Well, everybody, we made it. Arguably the most difficult year in recent memory is finally behind us and the dawn of 2021 has arrived! Although we aren't quite out of the woods yet in regards to Covid-19, we can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel with the release of the vaccine and the diligence of following protocols. And to that, we would like to share a snippet of our 2020 in review to give you a taste of how it has been for us!

Despite the many challenges of 2020, this year has been a huge growing point for our company and efforts to supply the best VR solution with our, XR Therapy system. At the beginning of the year, a bold decision to switch to tether-less VR hardware was decided. This led to us moving on from the excellent HTC Vive to the stand-alone PICO NEO 2 virtual reality system. The best part about this switch is the versatility and ease of set up this provides for the clinicians who employ VR in their practice. Gone were the days of having to move your patient to a “VR area”; virtual reality exercises now moved to the patient. Regardless of room size, the patient could be teleported to virtual worlds to perform unique exercises and promote neuroplasticity from their bedside; that is incredible. And speaking of clinicians…

We are honored to have the amazing opportunity to offer free trials of our XR Therapy System to various hospitals and clinics around the United States last year. Seeing clinicians in all settings using virtual reality is a dream come true, and seeing the greater amount of adopters and believers in VR testifies to the efficacy and versatility of this technology. The icing on the cake of these amazing opportunities is the fact that we get to work with more clinicians on furthering our XR therapy system to be based on actual feedback and anecdotal findings with multiple different therapists. Because of this, we have been able to utilize the feedback to positively affect our therapy solution. Better yet, these findings aren’t in labs or with other developers, but from therapists who are daily seeing patients and integrating our XR Therapy Solution into their treatments. Shout outs to those clinicians and thank you for all of the feedback in our dual pursuit for best practice for our patients.

Now that 2021 is here, we look forward to continued growth, creating new experiences, and providing the absolute best Virtual Reality solution for clinicians. One last shout out to the developers, business developers, and clinics; we wouldn’t be able to do these amazing things without you! So here is to the new year, may it find all of you safe and optimistic.
